ACTE game changers

This past Tuesday's Chicago ACTE Executive forum was a successful meeting of panel discussions, technology updates, and networking opportunities at the Westin O'Hare. We are so sorry if you missed out!

The day kicked off with a networking breakfast where we ran into some old friends from the Chicago area, followed by Ron DiLeo from ACTE giving a great introduction and ACTE updates. He then led a panel titled Partnering with your CIO to Manage Travel Program Technologies.

This panel featured Mary Bastrentaz and Rich Palumbo of Accenture, and Mark Dejani and Madia Sargent of Kraft, all of whom touched on points on how travel programs today are managed with evolving information. Some great take-aways mentioned were "Influence traveler behavior vs. punishing bad behavior," and "Empowerment and enablement of the individual through technology." They summed it up by stressing how encouraging travelers to act like owners will streamline the travel program.

After the break, we led a table discussion on social media influence and how Wiki's can be utilized in a travel program. That was a great experience to see what other members of the travel community thought about the use of Wiki's in a professional travel setting.

The last session of the day was titled Traveler Behavior: Moving from Control to Influence headed by Ross Atkinson of RA strategies and Tom Ruesink of Ruesink Group. They did a great job of comparing traveler compliance to games and how game developers keep their audience interested. Breakout groups were formed during the design to discuss how different aspects of gamer influence can be used in travel programs.

This is was great day of travel material to which ACTE graciously invited us. We are looking forward to future Chicago forums and encourage other Chicago travel executives to attend.
