David Pogue, Personal Tech Columnist from the New York Times started the day 3 general session giving a funny overview on personal technology and Web 2.0. He was a great speaker diving into how much he loved technology with all these great new travel apps and gadgets. This was followed up by an industry perspective by Marcie Verdin of MasterCard. She gave us some good news that travel spend is expected to double by 2019.
The first ed session we stopped into was "There's an App For That." It was good to hear about what pro-active companies are doing with mobile tech in the industry. We heard from Yelp, Rearden, TripIt and GetThere to name a few.
The day and conference were complete with a final general session that was lead as an Oxford-style team panel debate on traditional travel management practices, pros and cons. This was a great new way to do a general session that even kept the audience interactive with text in answers. After the session was complete we headed to the closing reception sponsored by JAL in the Marriott's Broadway Lounge overlooking the square.
Thanks for having us ACTE, this was a great conference in a great location. We are looking forward to the Canadian conference in Montreal this fall.
